WHY MICROBIOLOGY?
■ Because it detects pathogens of important diseases and discovers antimicrobial agents and has enabled the development of immunology, virology, biochemistry, molecular biology, cell cultures, biotechnology, bioinformatics, metagenomics and proteomics.
■ Because it offers a selected combination of basic natural sciences, general microbiological contents and specialist microbiological knowledge and orientates students into microbial ecology, microbial biotechnology or sanitary microbiology.
■ Because with our colleagues we discovered the communication between bacteria and their mechanical connections.
■ Because we detect microorganisms where there are no other living things.
■ Because microbiology graduates are needed in a number of disciplines: medicine, pharmaceutical industry, environmental cleaning technologies, agrifood, biofuel and biomaterials production, education, inspection and other government services, and research.
