- Veterinary medicine, relation between zootechnology and veterinary medicine, health care of animals, animal welfare issues
- General epizootiology(epidemiology): infectious disease cycle, the source of infection, modes of transmission, portal of entry, susceptibility of the host
- Epizootiology: study of reasons and conditions for beginning, development and cessation of disease, measures for prevention of diseases
- Principals of immunology and laboratory diagnostics: immune response of the organism, types of immunity; clinical laboratory diagnostics of infectious diseases
- Principals of clinical diagnostics: basic diagnostic methods – anamnesis (disease history), auscultation, percussion, palpation
- Professional animal handling and methods of fixation
- Principals of clinical examination of animals (breathing, arterial pulses, body temperature, rumen contractions), examination of visible mucus membranes and palpable lymph nodes
- Contagious diseases – basic characteristics and control of contagious diseases (in the world and country), epizootiological situation
- The most important acute and chronic infectious diseases
- Diseases of the central nervous system: rabies, transmissible spongiform encephalopathy (BSE, Scrapie)
- Important diseases of pigs: PRCV, TGE, PRRS, Cyrcovirosis, different forms of PSS, erysipelas
- Important diseases of equines: EIA, contagious metritis, contagious artheritis, leptospirosis, tetanus
- Important diseases of ruminants: Rinder pest Pestis of small ruminants, Blue tongue, Foot and mouth disease enzootic bovine leucosis , BVD, IBRIPV, Johne’s disease, pseudotuberculosis, infectious foot rot, metabolic diseases (ketosis, pregnancy toxemia periparturient hypocalcaemia), mastitis
