Content (Syllabus outline)

Circulation of water and energy in nature. Water characteristics and their relevance for environmental processes, surface and ground water, basic hydraulics. Using statistics and reliability of hydrological measurements and observations. Floods and droughts. Flood protection, flood and flood-building amenities. Activities in waters and their interests: supply and water purification, hydroenergetics, navigation, fisheries, recreation, irrigation and drainage. Renaturation of watercourses. Basic water management platform. Water Information System, registry streams innjihovih catchment areas. To determine the impact on the hydrological regime. Basic concepts of ecology of inland waters. Abiotic characteristics of standing and running water, chemical, physical and biological structure of aquatic ecosystems. Self-cleaning processes as a natural mechanism of protection of water bodies, ecological status assessment methods. River basin management - ecosystem approach.

Prerequisites for course work:
The course has to be defined as a study obligation in the student's curriculum of compulsory or elective courses.
