Content (Syllabus outline)
- Application of non-woody materials in wooden products and for surface coating – introduction;
- polymers – basic introduction to their composition, structure and properties and a review of the most important polymers for applications in wood adhesives and coatings;
- glasses and their properties, especially with respect to their utilisation in joinery and in furniture;
- metals and their properties with a focus on their applications in the products of furniture industry;
- overview of thermally and acoustically insulating materials;
- materials for upholstered furniture: materials for surfaces of upholstered furniture (textile - fabrics, leather), upholstering materials, framework materials, auxiliary materials
