Content (Syllabus outline)

Terminology in landscape planning and design. Phases in design process. Design techniques: problem definition, analytical approach, specific landscape design methods. Societal requirements in living environment – a contextual framework for landscape designers. Implementation of various design models (i.e. Vitruvius' principles »On Architecture«, Steinitz's working model) in spatial problems solution: garden design. Definition of client demands, definition of algorithm. Analyses of program and spatial / site conditions. Project: one-family house with a garden (single, in a row, cluster house with a patio). Functional and aesthetic aspects. Representation / visual techniques, drawings, 3D presentations, models.

Prerequisites

Completed seminar work: graphic exercises, notes on readings, positive grade in seminar (completed projects) and drawing exercises.
