Content (Syllabus outline)
Introduction: botany- disciplines & terminology
Cytology: structure and organisation of plant cell; plastids, vacuole, cell wall (development, structure and function; relevance to fodder value of plants).
Structure of plant body: meristems and permanent tissues; structure of plant organs: stem, leaf, root; development, structure and function; plant symbionts (mycorrhiza, N-fixators); secondary growth and metamorphosis of plant organs; life history and life forms of vascular plants; origin of agriophytes; flora and vegetation.
Propagation of plants and fungi: asexual and sexual propagation; flower, seed, fruit, germination; sporophyte, gametophyte, metagenesis.
Systematics: fundamentals of systematics of autochthonous and cultivated plants; species and cultivar; overview of taxonomy of vascular plants and higher fungi with emphasis in agriculturally important plants (crop plants, grasses, legumes, herbs, weeds).
Prerequisites
Prerequisites for the inclusion in the work:
- Enrolment in the corresponding year of study programme.
Prerequisites for performing study obligations:
- For successful conclusion of the subject student has to successfully pass a written exam (from lectured topics) and partial exams from laboratory courses and plant knowledge. Student has to be present at laboratory courses and field work, at oral examination he has to present properly arranged herbarium
