Content (Syllabus outline)
The subject acquaint the student with zoo-component of forest ecosistem. With becoming cognizant of bionomy, authecology and demecology of particular notable representatives of forest favna the student recognize their role in the forest. The point is on biodiversity as a base for dynamic stability of forest system.
- The student discharge the basic terms of zoological science (biogeography, sistematics, taxonomy, nomenclature etc), vocabulary of zoology and theories of appearance and development of living beings.
- They acquire the knowledge of morphological, biological, etological and ecological characteristics of most important and most typical aimals in our forests from some taxa as: Nematoda, Arachnida, Myriapoda, Insecta (first of all Odonata, Saltatoria, Thysanoptera, Heteroptera, Homoptera, Coleoptera with fam. Curculionidae (subfam. Scolytinae), Buprestidae and Cerambycidae and also Lepidoptera, Hymenoptera, Diptera), Amphibia, Reptilia, Aves and Mammalia (like Insectivora, Chiroptera and Rodentia).
- In detail they are dealing with sistematics and determination of Insects and especially with phytophagous which in our forest cause disturbances with outbreakes. Beside the subject deal with dynamics of populations which can explain how the outbreaks can be stoped. It acquaintance with the recent research of forest favna, methods of preparations and preservation of favnistic samples and with the importance of favnistic collections in Slovenia and abroad.
- Informs about the linking with users of knowledge (forestry, state institutions) and about inclusions in the applicable operative work and in the international nets.

- Colloquium: Systematic and morphology of forest fauna
- Completed laboratory work
