Content (Syllabus outline)

The course introduces students to safety rules in the microbiology lab and to many of the methodologies used in microbiology laboratory

from basic  microbiological techniques  (aseptic technique, techniques to reduce microbial populations, microscopy, the isolation and cultivation of microorganisms, with the use of different physicochemical parameters and cultivation media in microbial cultivation) to basics in microbial identification (based on microbial morphological, biochemical, physiological, and genetic characteristic), determination of the  number of microbes in samples, and determination of the efficiency of antimicrobial substances.  Students will learn how to preserve the microorganisms in pure cultures on the genetically stable way and how to use all those techniques in biotechnology and environmental microbiology.
