On Thursday, 5 December 2024, the Department of Food Science was filled with the smell of traditional Slovenian dishes!
At the Taste of Slovenia workshop, Erasmus students, under the guidance of food students, rolled up their sleeves and prepared two classic Slovenian dishes - Idrija žlikrofe and potica. The event was organised by the Food Science Department tutors with the support of the Students' Organisation and the Food and Nutrition Students' Association.
The atmosphere was excellent and the participants left the event smiling and - most importantly - full! The organisers and guests unanimously praised the enjoyable and bonding experience, which not only satisfied hunger but also forged new friendships between local and international students.
This semester, the Biotechnical Faculty is hosting around 60 exchange students. Our tutors try to facilitate their transition to a new environment and involve them in study and extracurricular activities. Cooking has proven to be an excellent way of bonding, as it enables the exchange of cultures in a relaxed and fun way, while at the same time introducing Slovenia to foreign students through its culinary tradition.
We are excited to announce that next semester, when we welcome a new group of Erasmus students, we will definitely repeat the workshop. Let the taste of Slovenia connect and inspire again!
