Content (Syllabus outline)
The basics of nutrition and feeding of different farm animals: ruminants (cow, sheep) and monogastrics (pigs, poultry, rabbits, horses):
• physiological basis,
• nutrient requirements,
• feeds and feeding,
• nutrition and productivity,
• nutrition and nutrition related health problems (organism, udder, reproduction, per parturient diseases …),
• feed additives,
• nutrition and quality of animal products,
• nutrition and environment.
• Estimation of requirements of different animal species and categories, modelling of nutritional requirements.
• Diet and feed mixture formulation.
• Practical assessment of changes and nutritional management in dairy cow herd.
Prerequisites
Prerequisites for the inclusion in the work:
Enrolment in the corresponding year of study programme. Basic knowledge (exams) in the field of chemistry and biochemistry, animal physiology and nutrition.
Prerequisites for performing study obligations:
- attendance at tutorials
- seminar
- to accede to final exam students need to successfully pass the colloquium
