First cycle studies

What? The call for enrolment in undergraduate and single master's degree programmes of the University of Ljubljana is published External link to HERE Open in new window

How? Candidates shall apply for enrolment in undergraduate and single master's study programmes in accordance with the deadlines and in the manner specified in the enrolment form on the External link to eVŠ web portal Open in new window. Please find the link to enrol External link to HERE Open in new window.

Second cycle studies

The call for enrolment in the master's degree programmes of the University of Ljubljana is published annually in early February for the upcoming academic year. Students shall apply for enrolment in the master's degree programmes in accordance with the deadlines and the manner provided for in the call for enrolment. External link to Additional information Open in new window

Other information:

The application for defining conditions for passing the subjects of the bridging programme shall be addressed to the competent Commission for the 1st and 2nd cycle department or study that is carrying out a programme, that is no later than 30 August of the current year for passing the bridging programme obligations in the upcoming academic year.

Third cycle studies

The call for enrolment in doctoral programmes of the University of Ljubljana in the 2020/2021 academic year is published on the External link to university's website Open in new window and on the External link to eVŠ web portal Open in new window. Students shall apply for enrolment in doctoral study programmes in accordance with the deadlines and the manner provided for in the call for enrolment.

Information for students already enrolled

Enrolment into the higher year of study

To enrol in the next study year, a student must meet the conditions prescribed by the study programme. Upon fulfilment of these conditions, the enrolment form to enrol in a higher study year is automatically opened for the student on 20 August of the current year.

Re-entry into the same year of study

To enrol in the same study year, a student must meet the conditions prescribed by the study programme. A student who wishes to repeat a year and has the conditions met shall ask the department clerk to open a repetition registration form for him/her.

Additional year

A student enrols in the additional year after the final year of the 1st or 2nd cycle, if he/she has not repeated the year or changed the field of study and does not intend to complete the study by 30 September of the current year.

If the student wishes to enrol into an additional year in the next academic year and has met the conditions to do so, he/she shall communicate it to the department or study clerk.

Exceptional enrolment into the higher year of study

According to the provision of Article 125 of the Statute of the University of Ljubljana, a student may exceptionally enrol in a higher year of study, even if he/she has not fulfilled all obligations specified in the study programme for enrolment in a higher year, when he/she has justified reasons, such as:

  • Longer-term disease
  • Exceptional family and social circumstances, parenthood
  • Recognised status of the person with special needs
  • Active participation in cutting-edge professional, cultural and sports events
  • Active participation in the bodies of the university

 

The student must demonstrate that the reason from the previous paragraph directly affected the fulfilment of study obligations, which is assessed by the competent commission for study matters.

According to the provisions of Article 126 of the Statute of the University of Ljubljana, the status of a student who has not completed the obligation to enrol in a higher year may be extended for one academic year for justified reasons, such as

  • Longer-term disease
  • Parenthood, exceptional family and social circumstances
  • Recognised status of the person with special needs
  • Foreign first-year students for whom Slovene is not their mother tongue, learning Slovene may be considered

Student-mothers who give birth during their studies and students who become fathers during their studies are entitled to a one-year extension of their student status for each live born child.
