Project manager at BF
Mihelič RokThe aim of the Waste4Soil project is to develop useful technical recycling pathways for the transformation of food processing residues (FPR) into soil improvers (SI) through a circular, systemic and multilateral approach at regional level involving all actors of the food chain, thus closing specific loops (nutrients, organic matter, water).
In order to achieve the project objective, it is essential to involve different types of actors throughout the project to ensure co-creation at different levels, from participation in project planning and demonstration to implementation, dissemination of results, and the demonstration phase.
All stakeholders in the value chain have an important role to play in improving management practices, reducing waste, and improving FPR recovery processes to make them environmentally friendly and socially acceptable means of soil improvement. The main objective of the Waste4Soil project is to provide ecosystem solutions that encompass cooperation inside and outside the project, with many different stakeholders: 1) farmers and their ecosystem, 2) the food industry, 3) waste management companies, 4) fertilizer producers, 5) research and educational institutions, 6) local and regional authorities, 7) citizens and civil society.
