Second Slovenian meeting of bacteriophage researchers: linking science and industry

Bacteriophages, viruses that infect bacteria, are becoming a key research tool in science and industry. Their role ranges from understanding bacterial ecosystems to the potential for developing new therapies and environmentally friendly solutions in agriculture. To highlight the latest research in this rapidly evolving field, the Second Slovenian Meeting of Bacteriophage Researchers will take place on 23 January 2025 at the Biotechnical Faculty, UL.

The event will bring together researchers from academia and industry to strengthen collaboration, expand the research network and showcase the achievements of Slovenian researchers on the international stage. The keynote speaker will be Prof. Rob Lavigne from the University of Leuven (Belgium), who will present key trends and developments in bacteriophage research.

The programme includes four themes: ecology and genomics of bacteriophages, bacteriophage-host interactions, applications of bacteriophages, and pro- and antiviral approaches.

The detailed programme can be found HERE.

The meeting is organised by the Biotechnical Faculty, UL and the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology, UL, in collaboration with Jafral d.o.o. and Cobik, with the support of sponsors Omega, VWR, MicroPolo, Jafral d.o.o. and Cobik.

The event will be held in English and is an excellent opportunity for researchers and students to network with experts in the field and learn about the potential of bacteriophages for the future of science and industry.

Applications are open until 15 January at this link.
