About the Pahernik Foundation
The Pahernik Foundation is committed to promoting sustainable forest management and supporting young people in the forestry profession. Through scholarships for students, support for research and the management of the Pahernik Forest Estate, it makes an important contribution to the development and promotion of forestry sciences.
The Pahernik Forest Estate in the Ribniško Pohorje area is a learning facility for forestry students and an example of good management practice, included in the ProSilva Europe network. The estate was established by Franjo Pahernik with a vision of sustainable management, who laid the foundations for sustainable management with his advanced approaches to afforestation and planning. His daughter, Vida Ribnikar, founded the Pahernik Foundation in 2005 and signed a solemn declaration with the University of Ljubljana.
Pahernik Foundation Scholarships
The scholarships are intended for second and third year forestry students at the Faculty of Biotechnics who demonstrate above-average results in their studies. They are awarded for one academic year, with the possibility of reapplying in future years.
