Accessibility statement for the Biotechnical Faculty - University of Ljubljana

1. Accessibility

The Biotechnical Faculty - University of Ljubljana is committed to making its website accessible bf.uni-lj.si in accordance with the Accessibility of Websites and Mobile Apps Act.

2. Degree of compliance

The bf.uni-lj.si website partially complies with the Accessibility of Websites and Mobile Apps Act due to the exceptions listed below.

3. Inaccessible content

The accessibility of bf.uni-lj.si is constantly monitored and the individual accessibility elements are continuously improved. However, some of the published content does not meet all the accessibility requirements set out in the law on the accessibility of websites and mobile applications.

3. Inaccessible content

The accessibility of bf.uni-lj.si is constantly monitored and individual accessibility elements are continuously improved. However, some of the published content does not meet all accessibility requirements as set out in the Accessibility of Websites and Mobile Applications Act.

Inaccessible content:

  • PDF documents,
  • Brochures and manuals,
  • Software-generated documents (e.g. annual reports),
  • Complex data tables,
  • Organigram,
  • Videos that do not have subtitles available,
  • Content in formats that require downloading and the use of dedicated applications,
  • Some navigation elements in desktop view.

The reason for their inaccessibility:

  • Some elements do not have an optimal alternative description entered. Entering an alternative description retrospectively would be a disproportionate burden, as most of the posts refer to current events that have already passed and would not be of proportionate use to the user. More recent items have an alternative description entered.
  • Some multimedia content is not accessible (e.g. subtitles for video content are missing). For multimedia content recorded before 23.9.2020, editing is not mandatory. Some content is not regulated for reasons of disproportionate burden (Article 6 of the Web and Mobile Accessibility Act (WMAA)). The Authority assesses the disproportionate burden in that it would have a significant financial impact on the Authority as the volume of content is very large. In addition, most of the content is of a nature that is subject to change, and it would be difficult to ensure that it is kept up to date.
  • The structure of tables and headings is not always optimal. This is due to the disproportionate burden that the Authority assesses with the human and financial burden that optimisation would require.
  • Some documents are not accessible. The accessibility of documents in written form can be problematic for blind people using a screen reader. Documents may be less accessible or inaccessible due to the acquisition of documents from different sources, including third parties, and the variety of technical ways in which these documents are produced. This is due to the disproportionate burden that the Authority assesses with the human and financial burden that would be required to optimise them.
