The Jesenko Prizes are the highest awards for teaching, research and professional achievements, as well as for economic and general social progress in the field of biotechnical sciences in Slovenia. The Faculty of Biotechnics has been awarding them since 1973, with three prizes, the Jesenko Prize for Lifetime Achievement, the Jesenko Prize for the best doctoral graduate and the Jesenko Prize for the best master's graduate.
The Jesenko Lifetime Achievement Award is awarded to one individual who is an employee of the Faculty or who is or has been involved in the teaching or scientific research work of the Faculty for his or her lifetime of work in the field of teaching, research or professional work and participation in the management of the Faculty.
The Jesenko Prize for the best doctoral graduate is awarded annually to one individual who has obtained the degree of Doctor of Science in the previous calendar year and who has co-authored at least three scientific articles with an impact factor during his/her doctoral studies, and who has been the corresponding author on two articles each.
The Jesenko Prize for the best Master's graduate is awarded each year to one individual who has achieved the highest average grade in examinations and tutorials (excluding the thesis) during the entire course of study (1st and 2nd cycle combined) in the previous calendar year.
The Jesenko Prizes of the Faculty are awarded in accordance with the Rules on Prizes and Awards of the Faculty of Biotechnics.
