Research Fields
Various aspects of biology and ecology of blind cave salamander, also known as proteus or olm (Proteus anguinus), with a special emphasis on its anatomical and physiological adaptations to the subterranean way of life, its interactions with other organisms, foremost parasites and microorganisms, as well as genomics and conservation biology of this unique and highly endangered underground amphibian.
As coordiantor and head of the “Infrastructural center for Microscopy of Biological Samples” my research approaches are closely associated with various visualization techniques from electron microscopy (TEM, SEM), light and fluorecence microscopy, confocal microscopy, microCT and 3D reconstruction techniques.
